Bathroom accessories. A question of quality.

Every buyer wants to know how to identify a good quality product. Particularly if you expect the item to last for many years. When choosing a bathroom accessory, it helps to know what material it is made of. What material is a sure sign of a high-quality product?

The most common materials used in the production of bathroom accessories are brass, ABS plastic, stainless steel, zinc alloys and other alloys. These materials don’t get rusty, which is important given that they will be operated in places with high humidity and sharp temperature fluctuations. Ceramics, poly-resin, clear and matted glass are also common materials.

Remember that reputable manufacturers only use tempered glass for making bathroom shelves. It is 5-10 times harder than ordinary glass, resistant to heating and can withstand temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius.

When choosing a dispenser for your bathroom, remember that it’s the tip that must be made of metal.
It is critical that all metal parts be chrome-nickel plated. This will prevent the accessories from fading and they will stay glossy and bright for many years. To check whether the plating process was done well, take a close look at the surface: the color must be perfectly silver, with no yellowish spots.

If you don’t like glossy surfaces, you can choose accessories with a satin “matted chrome” finish. This material does not leave wet stains on the surface.
Many accessories have both metal and glass parts; the question is how do you prevent rattling on contact between glass and metal parts. This is easy: choose products with rings and gaskets. These are made of plastic and can serve you for many years.

After you’re done shopping, there is one more point to remember: proper maintenance. Bathroom accessories can remain in top shape for years provided you treat them with due care. Do not use organic solvents or caustic substances.

Choose liquid detergents for cleaning: soap solution or dishwashing liquid will do. Frequently washing the item with warm soapy water and drying it with a towel can make your accessories look brand new again.
