A characteristic of the most water pipes is a long period of use which can be accompanied with rust, sand blister and other contaminants.
All of this always affects negatively on sanitary ware in your flat.
Sand entry in a mixer and in its parts can cause damage of functional components such as: cartridge, headworks, diverter and aerator. These parts can be broken regardless their quality, usage time and manufacturer.
To avoid such breaks you need to install a water filter which eliminates foreign particles. It will help to save not only a mixer but other home appliances: washing machine, dishwasher and etc.
There are two types of filters: cartridge filter and mesh filter. Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
A cartridge filter is a filter flask with a cartridge inside. It can be disposable or washable. A cartridge filter differs from other filters by a high degree of filtration but it has working temperature and working pressure limits.
A mesh filter is used more often. It filtrates water with a help of a mesh made of stainless steel. It is placed in a metal body made of brass. Mesh cells can be of different sizes. A filter for the coarse filtration of water with cells of medium size is a necessity. But we recommend to install a mesh filter with small cells, in other words a filter for fine filtration of water – it will help to improve quality of water.
Note that mesh filters require periodic maintenance. It is necessary to disassemble them and clean but only after turning off water supply. Frequency of filter cleaning depends on quality of piped water and can be determined by yourselves.
